Most gas stations also offer a mid-grade option that falls in between (88-90). The exact octane range can vary depending on where you live because of altitude differences.
Why Do Engines Need Different Octane Ratings?
Different engines need different octane ratings based on their design. For example, turbocharged engines usually require premium gas. There's a sticker on your gas tank filler lid that tells you the minimum octane rating your car's manufacturer recommends.
